Submittal Requirements - Log Audit
Part3 reads your imported specs and builds a list of required submittals for you. Link what is already logged, dismiss what doesn't apply, and create drafts for the rest. 📋
Note: You must have the Prime Consultant role on the project to link, dismiss or create drafts. On a GC-owned project, the General Contractor has these controls. Everyone else on the project can view and export the list.
Note: Submittal requirements are found with AI. Some listed items may not be real submittals, so use 'View in spec' to check and dismiss the ones that don't belong.
How Part3 Finds Required Submittals
Step 1: Import your specifications as usual (see Import Your Specifications). When the import is complete, click 'View submittal requirements'.

Step 2: A banner shows progress, and the work continues if you leave the page.

Hot Tip: This runs automatically every time specs are imported, including a new version of a section. If a section can't be processed, click 'Find required submittals' to try again.
- Specs already uploaded? You can return to the list at any time from Specifications > Submittal requirements.

Review the List
Step 1: Use the search bar to find a specific requirement, or click 'Filter' to show only certain ones, like requirements that are or aren't linked to a submittal lyet.

Step 2: Each row shows:
- Section: the spec section number and title
- Requirement: the submittal type (Product Data, Shop Drawings, Samples, etc.) and what the spec asks for
- Submittals: any submittals in your log that are linked to this requirement

Step 3: Click 'View in spec' on any row to open the spec section with the exact clause highlighted.

Link Submittals That Are Already Logged
Step 1: On a requirement row, click 'Link submittals'.

Step 2: Check the submittals that cover this requirement, then click 'Save'.
- A requirement can be linked to more than one submittal.

What does "Suggested" mean?
A suggested submittal is one that is already in your log under the same spec section. It is a simple section match, not an AI guess, and nothing is linked until you check it and save.
Step 3: To remove a link, click the 'x' on the submittal in the table.

Dismiss Requirements That Do Not Apply
Step 1: Dismiss requirements one at a time or in bulk:
- One at a time: open the '...' menu on the row and choose 'Dismiss requirement'.
- In bulk: check the rows you want, then click 'Dismiss'.

Step 2: Dismissing doesn't delete anything. To restore a requirement, click 'dismissed', '...' on the submittal row, followed by 'restore requirement'.

Create Draft Submittals for the Rest
Note: Create drafts isn't available on projects connected to Procore, since submittals need to start in Procore.
Step 1: Click 'Create drafts' (top right). Part3 uses every requirement that has no submittal linked, or only the rows you have checked.
Step 2: Choose how to group them (at the top):
- One per spec section: one draft submittal for each section
- One per requirement: a separate draft for each requirement
You'll see a warning if a section already has a submittal in your log.

Step 3: Click 'Create x Submittals'. Wait for the new drafts to be added to your submittal log and linked back to their requirements, followed by 'done' or 'view logs.'

Step 4: Head to your submittal logs to view the pending submittals that were created. The status stays as 'pending' until the contractor's submittal document is added to the submittal.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I export the list to Excel?
Click 'Export' (top right of the submittal requirements tab) to download the requirements to Excel. It uses the current filtered view, or only the rows you have checked.
Does this change my submittal log?
Only if you link submittals or create drafts. Nothing changes on its own. Linking connects existing submittals without changing them. Create drafts adds draft submittals to the log.
What happens when I import a new version of a section?
Part3 reads the new version automatically. Your links and dismissals are kept.
Is this the old Submittal Log Generation tool?
No. The old tool created a full log automatically when you uploaded a project manual. Submittal requirements gives you the list first, so you decide what goes into the log.
