Initiating Documents
Initiating documents are what triggered the quote or pricing in the first place. By linking them to your pricing, you’re connecting the dots — making it easy to see the chain of events. This not only improves clarity, but also strengthens your financial tracking and project analytics.
Hot Tip: Providing an initiating document is completely optional, as it may not apply to all scenarios!
Linking an Initiating Document
Step 1: After you have created the pricing document, you'll see a navy blue button in the top-left below the title of the document. Click on '+ Add Initiating document'.
Step 2: A pop-up will appear where you can search documents within your project to link. You can select from RFIs, Submittals, Proposed Changes, Change Directives, and Instructions.
Step 3: Search for your document and click on it. This will update the pop-up. This is an indicator that the document has been selected. When finished, click 'Save'.
The initiating document has now been selected, and linked to the pricing document.
Revising/Resetting an Initiating Document
Step 1: Click on the pencil icon beside ' Initiating document'. A pop-up will appear on your screen.
Step 2: Click 'Reset Document'. This will clear the document and bring you back to the search pop-up modal. If you don't want to select a document, you can leave it blank. When finished, hit 'Save'.
You can revise the document as many times as you want until the pricing document is accepted. After that point, you can still revise the initiating document by re-opening the pricing doc.
