What's New: Unified Submittals

This feature is in BETA. Please reach out to support@part3.io if you would like this enabled.

Every submittal now opens on one simple page, whether it's a standard Part3 submittal, a step-based review, or synced from Procore. Same layout, everything in the same place! 👏

Jump to the section for you: Reviewers or Prime consultants & submittal managers.

Who gets the new view? We're rolling it out project by project. Once your project has it, everyone who opens its submittals sees the new page (your team, consultants and the GC).

Want the old page back? Click 'Switch to classic view' at the top of the page. This only changes your view. If you switch, we'd love to hear why at support@part3.io!

What's New

  • One view for every submittal type
  • Details add an optional description
  • Files all in one list, just drag one onto the page to add it
  • Review queue shows whose turn it is
  • Reviews shows the status of each review
  • Autosave so nothing's lost until you submit
  • AI review right above the viewer

For Reviewers

Is It My Turn?

If the header says 'Ball in your court', you're up! On step-based submittals, later steps show 'Opens when Step 1 returns' until it's their turn.

Reviewing

Step 1: Open the submittal from the submittal log. You are immediately led to Review Mode.

Step 2: Review the submittal, and mark up the document using the annotation tools.

  • Click 'Compare' under the Files panel to open a spec, drawing or another file side by side.
  • Click 'Enter Full Screen' (bottom left of the viewer) for more room.

Tips on Files:

  • Mark up the files already included in the Files area (right hand side)
  • Want to add a file that isn't listed? Click 'Add files' at the bottom of the Files panel, or drag a file onto the page. It's added to the submittal's Files list and labelled with your discipline.

Step 3: Pick your review status and add any notes for the cover page. Leverage the AI review findings at the top by clicking '+Add to review'.

    • The AI review band above the viewer checks the files against the matching spec section.
    • 'Add to review' adds a finding to your notes (it never sets your status or submits for you).
    • 'Dismiss' hides a finding
    • Click a cited source to open that spec page in the compare pane.
    • Not seeing specifications on this project yet? The project's specs need to be imported first.

Step 4: When you're done reviewing, click 'Submit review'. 🎉

Hot Tip: Your review saves as you go! Leave anytime and come back to pick up where you left off. Nothing submits until you click 'Submit review'.

For Prime Consultants and Submittal Managers

Creating a Submittal

Creating a submittal hasn't changed. Once it's created, you'll see a Set up review area.

Step 1: In the Documents area, click 'Add files', or drag your documents onto the page. Attach the documents you would like included.

Step 2: Click 'Manage queue' at the top of the review queue. This is where you set up the whole workflow: disciplines, assignees, steps, due dates and the manager.

That's it! The review starts automatically once documents and reviewers are added!

Step 3: Check out the Review Queue to understand who is reviewing. If you have a step set up for yourself, you'll be notified when it's your turn to review. Follow Steps 2-4 above to complete your review.

  • Want to review on someone's behalf? Click 'Review on behalf of [discipline]' on any discipline that hasn't reviewed yet. The button will read 'Submit review as [name]' so it's clear whose review it is. 'Set ball in court' works the same as before.

Step 4 (Optional): Want to start a Bluebeam session? Click 'Start Bluebeam Session' at the top of the submittal.

  • Confirm the session name, files, invitees, permissions, followed by 'Start Bluebeam Session'.
  • Once the team has reviewed in Bluebeam, click 'Finalize Session'.  See Bluebeam Integration for more on this.

Returning

Step 1: When the header says All reviews complete, click 'Return' at the top of the submittal.

Step 2: Return as usual. Choose the files you'd like to return, double check the cover page and distribution list, and add an optional distribution message, followed by 'Return submittal'. See What's New: Returning Submittals.

Step 3: Once returned, the submittal header shows the returned status with options to 'Download', 'Revise' and 'Reopen' (under '+').

Procore Submittals

  • If the submittal originated in Procore, you will see 'Procore Connected' at the top of the submittal, along with when it last synced.
  • The due date comes from Procore.
  • If a reviewer's Procore email doesn't match their Part3 email, they can't review until it does. Reach out to the GC to correct this in Procore.
  • If a step has nothing to send, the 'Return to Procore' button will say Nothing to return to Procore.
  • When the header says All reviews complete, click 'Return to Procore' at the top of the submittal.
